Internet governance & IGF meeting in Rio - Presentation by Indian government

The presentation given by a DIT senior scientist at the Internet Governance Forum 2007 highlights some of the major issues and concerns that are facing the international community at present. It focuses on the functions of governance, which includes mandating standards, controlling resource allocation and also providing a policy framework. The aim of governance is to foster the growth of an Internet which will provide the platform for the presentation of a wide range of information from both local and global bodies and ensure a free and fair access to such information. However it also articulated the security concerns that are currently faced by the Internet community as well as the limitations in access to the which are present in some of the developing countries.
