Copyright vs the right to copy

The article critically looks at the implementation of the Indian Copyright Act 1957 with reference to the controversy surrounding the music of a Hindi movie which was plagiarised which brought it (the Indian Copyright Act 1957) into focus. The case involved a Rs. 2 crore settlement as an answer to the allegations made by the music composer against the producers for violation of copyright. While many looked at it as a stepping stone to ensure the copyright protection to creators, the article explains the other side of the coin as it(copyright laws) exercises limitations upon ones creativity to explore and express.The article further concludes that in an attempt to protect the rights of the creator one should be aware that our sensory perceptions are not just limited to hands but also to our ears and eyes.
