NKC for setting up web portals, GIS mapping: Sam Pitroda

The National Knowledge Commission is concentrating on e-governance in their recommendations for implementing 10 new web portals and GIS mapping of India. These portals will be on various topics, such as energy, environment and knowledge network. By doing so, the Commission aims to create standards for web-based services and deal with organizational issues. The Commission will present these ideas to the Government in January 2007, and it will be interesting to see how they are implemented thereafter.
