Yahoo to launch new portals in Indian languages

Up to six new Indian language portals will be launched in the next few weeks as Yahoo! moves to further enter the Indian market. Additionally, the company will expand its R&D centre in Bangalore to 1000 employees from the current 800. The Indian R&D centre of Yahoo! is the largest outside the US. While such expansion efforts may allow easier access for those speaking only Indian languages, what remains clear is Yahoo!'s aim to tap India's large potential chiefly from from a smart marketing angle.
