Human Resource Development ministry hopes to make $10 laptops a reality

The Indian government is making efforts to develop a laptop which it hopes will cost $10 when it finally hits the market. The project is currently taking shape with two designs already in and a Public Sector Undertaking evincing interest to be a part of the project. At this stage, it seems that the IPR will remain with the designers and it remains unclear if the project will use Free Open Source Software or proprietary software. The laptops will be available in 2 years time.
