Telecentre tales: Indian telecentre forum

This is a write-up of the Indian Telecentre Forum of the eIndia 2007 conference, in which government officials, local and global industry leaders, researchers and others met to discuss the present and future state of telecentre movement in India and around the world. The forum had a particular focus on the Government of India's Common Service Centres (CSCs) scheme and other initiatives in India. The report gives a detailed synopsis of each days proceedings, organised thematically. The first day's focus was on reviewing the emerging telecentre ecosystem, the second day's on the CSC programme and sharing visions for shared access, and the third day's on addressing the access challenge. The speakers discussed their own experiences and explored how their learnings could be used to make telecentre schemes an effective and sustainable choice for creating a democratic information society.
